Voi and S-Bahn bring e-scooter parking stations to Stuttgart

Sep 11, 2020

Today, we launched an exclusive three-month pilot project in collaboration with S-Bahn Stuttgart to expand its commuter service. Voi scooters can now be booked via the new Mobility Stuttgart App of the S-Bahn Stuttgart and thus complement the public transport offer.

As part of the pilot project, three e-scooter parking stations developed by Voi were installed for the first time in Germany at Bad Cannstatt station, one of Stuttgart’s most important commuter hubs. The parking racks are designed, produced, transported and funded by Voi, but riders of all scooter brands are welcome to use it.

The Swedish operator launched its first parking racks in Stockholm, in December 2019, in collaboration with private partners such as property owners and museums. Since then, Voi has led a first-of-its-kind parking rack experiment on public ground in Oslo, in collaboration with Transportøkonomisk Institutt. The first promising results show that the mere presence of a physical parking rack has a tremendous positive impact on parking in the surrounding area, and that users are willing to walk some extra meters to park if a visible parking station is present. Read more about the Oslo pilot here.

Users of the Mobility Stuttgart App, developed by the Berlin-based technology company Mobimeo, will get a 50% discount on their ride if they park their scooters at one of the stations after the journey. This way, scooters should always be responsibly parked around the station and available for commuters looking for a so called “first-and-last mile” solution.

Dr. Dirk Rothenstein, CEO of the Stuttgart S-Bahn said:
“Voi’s e-scooters complement our offer in a sustainable way on the way to or from the train station. With the e-scooter parking stations, we are expanding the mobility offer at Bad Cannstatt train station with an additional detail, thus making local transport in the region even more attractive.”

To find a scooter for the way to the station, Voi scooters can be located via the Mobility Stuttgart App. In addition, new customers of the two collaborating partners will be credited with 25 free minutes for Voi scooters.
