Voi expands its Vehicle Family with three new models in Q1 2025

Mar 12, 2025

Swedish-founded Voi Technology, one of Europe's leading micromobility companies, is expanding its fleet with the launch of three new vehicles in Q1 2025: the Voiager 8 (e-scooter), Explorer 4 (e-bike), and Explorer Light 1 (new light e-bike).

This is Voi’s most significant investment in e-bikes to date, underscoring our commitment to providing sustainable and accessible urban mobility solutions. With the introduction of these three new models, Voi is increasing its total fleet size by ~40% to meet the growing demand for micromobility services by both riders and cities.

Fredrik Hjelm, CEO and co-founder of Voi, said:

“Over the years, we have steadily expanded our e-bike fleets, but in 2025 we are taking it to the next level. We are accelerating our presence across key markets, including the UK, Germany, and France, with further expansion on the horizon. Stay tuned for what’s next!

More and more cities across Europe are envisioning both shared e-scooters and e-bikes as key elements in their mobility offering and view micromobility as an extension of their public transit system. This expansion supports our mission to offer more choices for riders, whether they prefer the agility of an e-scooter or the comfort and range of an e-bike.”

The next generation of shared micromobility

The Voiager 8 e-scooter isn’t just an upgrade - it’s a complete refinement of the shared e-scooter experience. Every detail has been fine-tuned to create a ride that’s smoother, smarter, and more intuitive than ever before. From the moment you step on, you’ll notice the difference: a sleeker design, a wider footboard for enhanced stability, and dual displays that provide clearer, real-time information at a glance.

But the improvements go beyond aesthetics. Enhanced positioning and parking accuracy make every ride more seamless, helping riders find, park, and lock their scooters with ease. The intuitive design ensures a natural and comfortable ride, whether you're a first-time user or a seasoned pro. Every aspect - handling, balance, and responsiveness - has been optimised to create an effortless experience.

These refinements aren’t just about rider comfort; they also contribute to Voi’s commitment to circularity. With improved durability and repairability, the Voiager 8 lasts longer, needs fewer repairs, and reduces the number of service trips required to maintain the fleet. And with 54% lower power consumption, the battery lasts significantly longer between charges, minimising energy use and operational impact.

This is the most advanced Voiager yet, setting a new standard for shared micromobility. Every detail has been dialed up to make getting around the city easier, more enjoyable, and more circular than ever,” said Hjelm.

Designing e-bikes for everyone

The next evolution of shared e-bikes is here. Voi is not just expanding its e-bike fleet - we’re refining every detail to make micromobility more seamless, accessible, and intuitive than ever before.

The Explorer Light 1 is a reimagined e-bike that’s 25% lighter than standard shared e-bikes on the market. Designed for effortless riding, its lightweight frame makes it easier to maneuver, park, and use - opening up e-biking to an even wider range of riders. Whether it’s your first time on an e-bike or your daily go-to, the Explorer Light makes every trip feel smooth and natural.

The Explorer 4 e-bike has also been upgraded with thoughtful refinements that enhance both comfort and convenience. A larger, more durable basket (with a 10 kg capacity) makes it easier to carry everything from groceries to gym bags, while a newly designed saddle provides a softer, more comfortable ride. We've also improved the seat clamp mechanism, making adjustments smoother and more intuitive for riders of all heights.

To further enhance usability, all key touchpoints, like the seat clamp and bell, are now distinctly colored in grey, making interactions more intuitive and seamless.

With these updates, the Explorer 4 and Explorer Light 1 aren’t just shared e-bikes; they’re thoughtfully crafted, next-generation mobility solutions - designed to make urban travel easier, more enjoyable, and more accessible than ever.

Entering an era of growth and expansion

Beyond increasing our fleet size, Voi is also expanding into several new cities in 2025, bringing sustainable micromobility to new urban areas. As cities continue to seek alternatives to car dependency, Voi’s expanded offering provides a compelling solution for reducing congestion and emissions.

2025 will be a year of significant expansion, but with a disciplined approach. We have already launched Le Havre, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, and Mannheim, as well as introduced e-bikes in London and Cambridge. In the second quarter, we will accelerate our launch pace like never before,” said Christina Moe Gjerde, VP of Northern Europe at Voi.

Voi’s ability to expand and innovate is backed by a strong financial position. In 2024, the company secured funding through its first-ever bond issuance and reached its first full-year Adjusted EBIT profitability. This solid foundation allows Voi to invest in the future of shared mobility, ensuring long-term sustainability and operational excellence.

Voi’s new vehicles will be launched across Europe starting March 2025:

  • Voiager 8 will be launched in selected cities in Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

  • Explorer 4 will be launched in selected cities in Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

  • Explorer Light 1 is piloted exclusively in the United Kingdom.
