Redefining mobility

Born out of a vision to challenge car culture and redefine urban space, Voi was founded by four Swedes to help reduce air pollution, road congestion and the spatial footprint of transport in our cities. The idea was to rent out dockless electric scooters by the minute, providing the public with a fast, convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transport for last-mile mobility in downtown areas.

Voi e-scooters launched in over 40 towns and cities across Europe, quickly reaching the milestone of 1 million completed rides. To enhance rider safety, we launched RideSafe Academy (formerly RideLikeVoila) – the first-ever online traffic school for e-scooter riders. To further improve operational excellence, we introduced swappable batteries, reducing energy consumption and emissions.

We secured several groundbreaking tenders for Voi across Europe, including exclusive licenses in most of the towns and cities participating in the UK’s e-scooter trial. We also rolled out several in-app safety features, such as a low-speed mode and a reaction test for night-time riding, as well as a subscription-based pricing model, making Voi a more affordable option for everyday commuting.

The launch of our first e-bike marked Voi’s expansion into multimodal services. We also introduced the next generation of e-scooters, featuring turn indicators for enhanced safety and improved geo-targeting for more precise parking solutions. Additionally, we enhanced our operations technology by implementing real-time demand prediction and fleet optimization software powered by machine learning.

Voi reached a significant milestone with 100 million rides and the launch of our 100th city. We introduced the Voiager 5, a safer, more durable e-scooter with a modular design for easier maintenance and part reuse. We expanded our parking assistant feature, ensuring proper parking and addressing recurring issues. Additionally, we secured re-tenders in markets like France and Denmark.
