Yes, in the United Kingdom, Voi scooters are classified as motor vehicles. This means in order to ride Voi, you need to be legally licenced to use and drive e-scooters in the United Kingdom.

Before your first ride, you'll be prompted to scan your driving licence in order to unlock a scooter.

You must have the category Q entitlement on your driving licence to use an e-scooter. A full or provisional UK licence for categories AM, A or B includes entitlement for category Q. If you have one of these licences, you can use an e-scooter.

If you have an overseas driving licence, you can use an e-scooter if you:

You cannot use an e-scooter if you have an overseas provisional licence, learner permit or equivalent.

The weight limit for riding a Voi is 100 kg. Keep in mind that the maximum weight includes all the items that you're carrying on Voi, such as a bag or a backpack.

It’s forbidden for more than one person to ride per e-scooter. Doing so will affect your balance and the functionality of the brakes, and you risk seriously injuring yourself and your friend.

Right now, there is no option in the UK to rent multiple scooters using one Voi account. Each person needs to have a registered profile in order to unlock a scooter.

To ensure safe operations, we created different types of zones in the Voi app. These zones were decided with the support of local authorities and based on the accessibility of the areas, traffic intensity, infrastructure, demand, etc. Learn more about our zones below.

 - The yellow areas on the Voi map are slow zones. These are mapped out in certain areas where you shouldn’t ride as fast, and where your Voi e-scooter will automatically run slightly slower. Whether you’re inside a slow zone or not, you should always be aware of your surroundings, pedestrians, and other road users.

 - Green areas marked with a P are prime parking spots. If you park here, you’ll get a credit to use toward your next ride.

 - In some cities, you’re only allowed to park in conveniently located, designated parking spots (indicated in blue). Plan your journey before you ride to find the best spot at the end.

 - It’s not appropriate or permitted to end your ride in certain places. That’s why we have no parking zones, where you won’t be able to end your ride. Leaving a scooter in one of these areas will lead to a penalty of £25.

 - The grey areas are no-riding zones. You must not ride or park a scooter in these areas.

 - It’s against the rules to ride a Voi outside the Voi Zone. A thick red line delineates the end of the Voi Zone from the surrounding area. Your scooter will come to a complete stop, and you won’t be able to end your ride. Move it to a place where you’re allowed to park. Leaving a scooter outside the Voi zone will lead to a penalty of £25.
