Voi strengthens UK presence assumes Zipp Mobility’s licences in Buckinghamshire and Slough
Nov 21, 2024
With operations already underway in Buckingshamshire and a launch in Slough planned for December, Voi continues to grow its UK presence.
Voi Technology, Europe's leading micromobility provider, is pleased to announce that it is taking over the contracts to operate shared e-scooter schemes in Buckinghamshire and Slough, previously run by Zipp Mobility. This strategic move consolidates Voi’s position as the leading e-scooter operator in the UK and underscores its commitment to expanding safe, sustainable, and accessible transportation options across the region.
Voi has already launched its services in Buckinghamshire and is set to launch in Slough this December, providing residents and visitors with a green, affordable way to navigate their communities.
Fredrik Hjelm, Co-founder and CEO of Voi Technology, said:
"This is an important milestone for Voi as we continue to expand our footprint in the UK. By taking over from Zipp, we can extend our expertise in operating sustainable and efficient e-scooter services to new cities. We are committed to working closely with local authorities and communities to ensure this transition benefits everyone. We thank Zipp Mobility for their collaboration during this process and look forward to bringing our shared vision of green mobility to life in Buckinghamshire and Slough."
The transition was the result of a collaborative effort between Voi, Zipp Mobility, and the local councils to ensure a seamless handover. Damian Young, Founder and CEO of ZEUS Mobility and Zipp Mobility, remarked:
“While we are disappointed to be withdrawing services from Buckinghamshire and Slough Boroughs, we are delighted to have been able to help facilitate the transfer to Voi Technology. We have been working solidly over the last number of months with the local authorities and Voi to ensure that our customers receive the best service into the future. We believe this is a positive outcome and we wish Voi and our e-scooter users the very best for the future”.
This acquisition is a prime example of market consolidation in the rapidly evolving micromobility industry. Voi’s integration of the former Zipp areas strengthens its strategic position ahead of anticipated legislative changes in the UK.
