Voi releases its 3rd Safety Report: Driving progress towards Vision Zero
Mar 4, 2025
Safety is at the core of everything we do. Since 2021, we’ve set the industry standard for transparency, and our latest report shows real progress: in 2024, we reduced our accident risk to 3.9 moderate injuries per million km ridden (down from 4.2 in 2023).
Since its founding in 2018, Voi has been committed to rethinking urban mobility by providing safe, sustainable and accessible mobility solutions. As the first micromobility operator to publish a dedicated Safety Report in 2021, Voi set a new industry benchmark for transparency and accountability. Now, with its third Safety Report, Voi continues to track its progress, share key learnings, and outline the actions the company has taken to make city streets safer for all.
From technological advancements to rider education and close collaboration with cities, this report highlights Voi's ongoing efforts to achieve Vision Zero: Eliminating fatalities and severe injuries in our value chain by 2030.
Reducing accident risk through innovation and collaboration
A key metric for Voi’s safety footprint is its injury rate, which is defined as the number of moderate injuries and above per one million kilometres ridden. This metric allows Voi to track its progress in making micromobility safer and more reliable for users.
In 2023, Voi’s injury rate stood at 4.2, and in 2024, it was reduced to 3.9 - a significant improvement that underscores Voi’s commitment to safety and continuous enhancement of its operations.
Soffi Razavi, Head of Safety & Central Operations at Voi, said:
“To put this into perspective, a Voi rider could statistically travel the equivalent of six laps around the world without being likely to experience a serious injury. While no accident is acceptable, this illustrates the steady progress we are making in reducing risk through targeted safety initiatives. And while these numbers reflect positive momentum, our commitment remains the same: to keep learning, improving, and working with cities to create safer streets for all.”
Voi attributes the decreased accident risk to ongoing investments in technology, rider education and infrastructure collaboration. From enhanced geofencing capabilities to in-app safety training and improved vehicle design, several cases are listed in the report.
Razavi said:
“We are constantly working to minimize risks and create a safer riding experience. We remain dedicated to further reducing accident rates by refining our safety initiatives and deepening our partnerships with cities to build safer streets for everyone.
It’s important to acknowledge that safety isn’t a journey we take alone. Together with policymakers, urban planners, local communities, and our riders, we are shaping a future where micromobility seamlessly integrates into safe, sustainable, people-first cities”.
